ESL One Cologne 2020 will go online with smaller prize pool

After many concerns, ESL finally decided to make the Cologne 2020 event transition from the offline event without viewers to online. As usual for big online events, the tournament was divided into 4 regions: Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania. The event dates remain untouched – August 18-30.

The transition to online format has also affected the tournament prize pool. Thus, ESL One Cologne 2020 prize pool was decreased by 2 times. The renewed prize pool looks as follows:

Europe: $325,000

North America: $135,000

Asia: $20,000

Oceania: $20,000

The remaining $500K will be distributed between the 2021 events in Katowice and Cologne. We already know 15/16 event participants in Europe, 6/8 in North America, 1/4 in Asia, and 1/4 in Oceania. The other competitors will be announced on July 20. The invites will be distributed based on Regional Major Rankings.
