HenryG leaves Cloud9, takes sabbatical from CS:GO
After serving as the Cloud9 CS:GO team manager for seven months, Henry "HenryG" Greer has officially departed the organization. His departure follows the March 26th announcement from the Cloud9 organization that they would be transfer-listing their lineup and temporarily leaving CS:GO competition.
"Today's the day that Cloud9 and myself will be parting ways," HenryG said in a tweet Monday evening. "Thanks to Jack Etienne for the opportunity and the players for their hard work and time. It's truly a shame how things panned out with a lot of mitigating circumstances but plenty of positive memories, too."
HenryG joined Cloud9 in September of 2020. His goal while with the organization was to build a super-team that could dominate the CS:GO scene. However, the team struggled to live up to their potential. Their elimination during the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 13 playoffs seemed to be the last straw for the organization, who decided to pull the plug on the team that HengryG had built.
Before joining Cloud9 as their team manager, HenryG was a commentator for a number of S-Tier Counter-Strike events. Before that, he competed in both CS:GO and Counter-Strike: Source over the course of an 8 year competitive esports career as a player.
HengryG touched on his future plans in a follow-up Tweet, saying, "While the space is in this strange transition period I have decided to take a sabbatical and enjoy some of the normality that life has to offer. It's certainly been a while. I will be back eventually when the right opportunity arises. Be good to each other."
