This virtual idol is stepping into the game as an S-Rank agent, and fans are dying to see how she changes the fight. In this Sunna ZZZ guide, I’ll walk you through her abilities, break down her Signature W-Engine, and take a closer look at the Mindscape Cinema feature that’s caught everyone’s attention.

The Angels of Delusion Faction
The Angels of Delusion are going to be a virtual idol faction in the game, made up of three characters: Nangong Yu, Aria, and Sunna. Each of them brings something different to the table. Nangong Yu's the lead singer, & her thing is getting the crowd all fired up through her music. Aria, on the other hand, is more of a natural performer & knows how to draw attention to herself on stage. Sunna's the delicate, talented composer of the group & it shows in the way she plays, as she focuses on setting the pace of the battle, helping out her teammates & getting them lined up for some seriously powerful follow-up attacks, all through precise timing & some really clever support mechanics.
Sunna Overview and Role
Sunna is an S-Rank Physical agent with a Strike style and she specialises in Support. Unlike some of the other characters out there, she's not about dishing out loads of damage herself, she's more about getting the most out of her teammates, especially Attack & Anomaly characters. Sunna's playstyle is all about keeping special teamwide states active.

Sunna and Bubblegum Change Team Control
Sunna adds a new layer using Bubblegum to hit, apply debuffs, and pressure enemies off-field. This creates relief for teams where the main damage dealers must stay active longer.
Main Combat System Flow
● Sunna places enemy marks using attacks, while Bubblegum applies the same effect with clear intent. The mark is Cat's Gaze, also called a Mesmerized mark for clarity. Once Attack or Anomaly units hit marked enemies, Cat's Gaze detonates using Sunna attack power.
● Another system uses Fever state and Ether Veil deployment to raise team output. She enters Fever using an EX Special Attack for team attack scaling from her attack power. The attack bonus caps at exactly 1,000 attack power. Sunna also deploys Ether Veil: Idol or Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise to unlock effects.
● Bubblegum continues pressure while Sunna stays off-field, which feels reassuring. Bubblegum attacks enemies alone and consumes Claw Sharpeners during actions. This keeps Cat's Gaze active and maintains team contribution without Sunna present. Claw Sharpeners refill when allies trigger Ether Veil or apply Anomalies.
Basic Attacks and Skill Usage
● Sunna attacks on-field using Mischief Meteor Hammer with four physical hits. These attacks mainly apply Cat's Gaze and activate passive effects.
● Her off-field attack, Naughty Cat Spotted, sends Bubblegum to deal damage alone. Bubblegum consumes Claw Sharpeners and scales damage from Sunna's attack power.
● Star Shooter launches Bubblegum using an airgun and deals physical damage. This places Bubblegum forward before activating Bubblegum Barrage EX Special Attack. Bubblegum Barrage deals damage, applies Angelic Chord-ination for 40 seconds, and enables quick assists. Sunna gains invulnerability during this skill, which reduces risk.
● While Angelic Chord-ination remains active, Sunna unlocks Special Photography Technique. This attack applies Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise and grants 50 attacks for 40 seconds. The skill also triggers a quick assist on a heavy hit. This EX Special Attack activates once per Angelic Sync entry.
Chain Attack and Ultimate
● Sunna's Chain Attack, "Don't Mess With Kitty", has her charging forward on Bubblegum dealing massive physical damage in the process. As with most of her main abilities, a quick assist is triggered on a heavy attack and she gets to be invulnerable for the duration.
● Her Ultimate, "Smash It All", is a full-on hammerfest. She unleashes a series of hammer attacks before sending Bubblegum flying at an explosive finish that deals a ton of AoE physical damage. If you're able to land a heavy attack during the Ultimate, she picks up six claw sharpeners. This means she's instantly ready for some extended off-field healing after the animation wraps up.
Core Passive and Additional Ability
Sunna's core passive, Cuteness is Justice, is central to her role as a support. It basically makes her the envy of all the other characters in the Angelic Sync state. They get an ATK bonus equal to 30% of Sunna's initial ATK but only up to 1,050 ATK. This makes stacking ATK a really valuable thing on her.
Cat's Gaze is what happens when you hit an enemy enough times that it makes them less aggressive towards her and then triggers an explosion that crits for 150% crit damage when it finally goes off. This explosion deals more damage if the enemy is stunned in the first place. And on top of all that, it also reduces the number of times you have to hit an enemy for Cat's Gaze to go off when they're stunned.
Her additional ability, Daydreamer's Counterpoint, kicks in when another team member is an attack character or shares Sunna's faction. Inside Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise, enemies take more stun damage and Sunna picks up 15 energy when she first enters the battlefield.
Dodge, Assist, and Defensive Tools
Sunna has the standard dash dodge that keeps her invulnerable while going for a Skyward Hammer or Delusion Strikeout both of which deal physical damage. And let's not forget about her assist kit, which includes Quick Assist, Defensive Assist, and Assist Follow-Up all of which are basically just designed to keep her safe and do a bunch of damage to enemies in the process.
Mindscape Cinema Explained
Sunna's Mindscape Cinema is what gives her such amazing support capabilities as she levels up. In the early stages, it's all about regenerating energy and stacking def reductions on enemies, but as you level up, you start to get some really cool upgrades like increased skill levels and team-wide damage bonuses.

At Mindscape 6, Sunna slams herself into the Focused Creation state, with the help of an EX Special Attack. When she's in this zone, you can bet her attacks are going to land with a crit every time and she's going to take a lot less damage too, so she can just keep on going. Plus, her Cat's Gaze is going to be super effective, and that's going to make a big impact for the whole squad.
Signature W-Engine Thoughtbop
Thoughtbop is pretty much Sunna's go-to S-Rank Support W-Engine. Essentially, she gets a steady flow of Energy regen while she's off-field, which is always nice.

But here's the thing when Sunna uses an EX Special Attack that deals some real damage, she gives the whole team a damage buff. It gets better with every special she uses at max stacks; the team's also going to get a nice little ATK boost. There's a cap on this stuff, by the way only one instance per squad, so you don't have to worry about unbalancing the whole thing.
Final thoughts
Sunna is a high-octane Support character who's built for players who know how to make the most of their synergies, their timing, and all that jazz. She's a total beast at empowering both attack and Anomaly characters. She gives out massive ATK bonuses, practically guarantees crits, and keeps the pressure on from off-field. If you put in the time and thought into how you're going to set up your team around her, Sunna can turn a pretty ordinary team into something truly epic in Zenless Zone Zero fights that'll leave you and other players alike just gobsmacked by how destructive it all was.
