This is mainly a raid-focused event rather than a complete rerun of GO Fest Global. Five-star and Mega Raid bosses will rotate across three habitat periods, so planning your targets before the event begins will help you use your free and premium passes more efficiently.

What Is the Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Sunday Raid Makeup Event?

Technical issues during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global prevented some Trainers from joining Raid Battles. The makeup event was originally announced for selected regions, but Scopely later confirmed that the problems were more widespread than first believed.

As a result, the event has been expanded worldwide. The number of free Raid Passes has also been increased from nine to 12 as an additional apology for the confusion and disruption.

Event Detail Information
Date Sunday, July 26, 2026
Local Event Time 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Availability Global
Main Raid Boss Mega Mewtwo Y
Free Raid Passes Up to 12
Raid Structure Three rotating habitat periods
Remote Raid Limit No limit during the announced global window
Link Charge Cap Increased to 2,000

The event repeats the raid content featured during the original Sunday of Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global. No additional wild habitats, Egg bonuses, new research, or general wild Shiny boost have been announced for this makeup event.

When Does the GO Fest 2026 Raid Makeup Event Start?

The local event will run on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. local time.

The nine-hour event is divided into three habitat blocks. Five-star and Mega Raid bosses will change when each habitat period begins.

Habitat Local Time
Earthforged Domain 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Verdant Anomaly 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Twilight Battlefield 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Mega Mewtwo Y and the three team-hat Pikachu variants are listed separately from the rotating habitat raids. Trainers should continue checking nearby Gyms throughout the event for these encounters.

When Are Unlimited Remote Raids Active?

There will be no limit on Remote Raids from Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. PDT until Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PDT.

This window is longer than each region's local nine-hour event. Trainers can therefore join raids hosted in other time zones before their own local event begins or after it ends.

What Bonuses Are Available During the Raid Makeup Event?

The event bonuses are designed to help Trainers complete more raids and catch raid bosses more easily.

Up to 12 Free Raid Passes

Trainers can receive up to 12 free Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms during the event.

These are standard orange daily Raid Passes. You will normally need to use the pass you are holding before spinning another Gym Photo Disc to collect the next one. Starting the event in an area with several nearby Gyms will make it easier to claim and use all 12 passes.

More Effective Premier Balls

Premier Balls will be more effective at catching Pokémon after raids.

No exact catch-rate multiplier has been announced. Trainers should still use Golden Razz Berries and aim for Great or Excellent Curveball Throws when catching valuable Legendary, Mega, or Super Mega Raid bosses.

Special Background Encounters

Pokémon caught from five-star raids and Mega Raids during the event may have a Special Background.

Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids may also have a Special Background. When a Mewtwo with this background is Mega Evolved, its Mega Evolution background will display an additional visual effect.

Special Background encounters are not guaranteed, so collectors may need to complete several raids before obtaining one.

The maximum Link Charge capacity will increase to 2,000 during the event.

The announcement only confirms the increased capacity. It does not state that Link Charges will be automatically awarded or free to obtain.

What Bonuses Do Road of Legends Deluxe Pass Owners Receive?

Trainers who previously purchased the Road of Legends Deluxe Pass will receive additional rewards during the makeup event.

Requirement Additional Reward
Complete an eligible raid 5,000 additional XP
Complete a five-star or higher raid 3 additional Candy
Complete a five-star or higher raid 1 additional Candy XL

These bonuses make five-star and Super Mega Raids more rewarding for eligible Deluxe Pass owners. The compensation applies to Trainers who previously purchased the pass.

Which Pokémon Appear in Super Mega and One-Star Raids?

Super Mega Raids

Mega Mewtwo Y will appear in Super Mega Raids during the event.

This is the main raid target of the makeup event. It can be Shiny, and the Mewtwo caught after the raid may have a Special Background.

Encounter Condition Mewtwo Catch CP
No weather boost 2,294 to 2,387 CP
Windy weather boost 2,868 to 2,984 CP

The event information does not provide a smaller fixed time window for Mega Mewtwo Y. Trainers should monitor Campfire, local raid groups, and eligible Gyms during the full event period.

One-Star Raids

The following costumed Pikachu will appear in one-star raids:

  • Pikachu wearing a Team Instinct hat
  • Pikachu wearing a Team Mystic hat
  • Pikachu wearing a Team Valor hat

All three team-hat Pikachu variants can be Shiny. These raids are useful for costume collectors and can usually be completed quickly while waiting for larger raid groups.

Nihilego, Guzzlord, and Necrozma do not have regional restrictions in the announced raid pool.

The unlimited Remote Raid window makes Verdant Anomaly especially valuable for collectors. Trainers can use invitations to battle Ultra Beasts that do not appear in their own region.

Which Raids Appear During Twilight Battlefield?

Twilight Battlefield runs from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

This final habitat has a smaller five-star raid pool, which may make it easier to find a specific target than during Verdant Anomaly.

Every announced raid boss in the Twilight Battlefield habitat can be Shiny.

Which Raid Bosses Should You Prioritize?

The best targets depend on your collection, available passes, and whether you care more about raid performance, Mega Energy, Shiny hunting, or Special Background Pokémon.

Prioritize Mega Mewtwo Y for the Main Event Reward

Mega Mewtwo Y is the clear headline target. It is the only announced Super Mega Raid boss and offers several valuable rewards:

  • Mewtwo encounters
  • Mega Energy
  • A possible Shiny Mewtwo
  • A possible Special Background
  • An additional background effect after Mega Evolution

Raid groups should identify eligible Super Mega Raid locations before the event begins. Not every Gym may host this raid type.

Use Remote Raids for Regional Ultra Beasts

Verdant Anomaly is the best time to join international Remote Raids. Focus on Ultra Beasts that do not normally appear in your region.

For example, a Trainer in the Asia-Pacific region can find Xurkitree locally but may need remote invitations for Pokémon such as Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Celesteela, or Blacephalon.

Choose Your Special Background Targets in Advance

Any five-star or Mega Raid catch may have a Special Background. Decide which Pokémon you would actually want as a background collectible before using Premium Battle Passes.

This is more efficient than joining random raids simply because they are nearby.

Raid Team-Hat Pikachu Only If You Collect Costumes

The Team Instinct, Team Mystic, and Team Valor Pikachu variants can all be Shiny. However, every one-star raid also uses time that could be spent battling Legendary or Mega Pokémon.

Costume collectors may consider them a high priority. Players focused on Candy XL, Mega Energy, or raid attackers can usually place them lower on the list.

How Should You Prepare for the GO Fest Raid Makeup Event?

Start by choosing one or two main raid targets from each habitat. Trying to raid every available boss will quickly drain your passes and make it harder to find the Pokémon you care about most.

Before July 26, complete the following preparations:

  • Clear enough Pokémon storage for raid catches.
  • Build battle parties for your priority raid bosses.
  • Stock up on Revives, Max Revives, and Potions.
  • Check your Premium Battle Pass and Remote Raid Pass supply.
  • Join a reliable local or online raid group.
  • Mark possible Super Mega Raid locations in advance.
  • Confirm which regional Ultra Beasts are missing from your collection.
  • Charge your phone and bring a power bank.
  • Leave enough time to use and collect all 12 free Raid Passes.

Remember to account for catch time between raids. Premier Balls will be more effective, but difficult Legendary encounters can still slow down a fast raid route.

Is the Pokémon GO Fest 2026 Raid Makeup Event Worth Playing?

Yes, especially if technical problems stopped you from completing raids during the original GO Fest Sunday.

The event offers a large mix of Super Mega, Mega, Legendary, Mythical, Ultra Beast, and costume raids. The 12 free Raid Passes also give free-to-play Trainers a meaningful amount of raid content without requiring premium passes.

The event is particularly valuable for Trainers who want:

  • Mega Mewtwo Y Energy and Mewtwo encounters
  • Special Background Pokémon
  • Shiny Legendary Pokémon
  • Regional Ultra Beasts through Remote Raids
  • Origin Forme Dialga or Origin Forme Palkia
  • Missing Mega Energy
  • Legendary Candy and Candy XL
  • Team-hat Pikachu variants

The main weakness is the extremely large raid pool. Finding one exact boss may be difficult, especially during Verdant Anomaly. A clear target list and an active raid community will be more useful than simply playing for all nine hours without a plan.
