EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team Guide: FUT Gallery, SBCs, Evolutions and Rewards

FC 27 changes what you should do with a Player Item before you sell it, submit it into an SBC, or commit it to an Evolution. FUT Gallery can preserve an eligible item’s collection value after it leaves your club, Streamlined SBCs can accept duplicates and partial submissions, and Evolution Pathways make the intended role of an upgraded player more important. The useful question is no longer simply “Does this card make my starting eleven?” It is also whether the card should fill a Gallery Set, help reach an SBC score, or stay available for a planned Evo.

EA has confirmed the systems and their intended rules, but exact SBC scores, Gallery rewards, event requirements, Pack odds, and the practical value of each activity will depend on the content available at launch and during later seasons.

What Is New in FC 27 Ultimate Team?

Feature What Changes Why Players Should Care
FUT Gallery Records eligible Player Items through themed Sets, grades, Tags, and Gallery Levels. An item can continue contributing to a Set after it is sold or submitted into an SBC.
Streamlined SBCs Uses eligible items and a target score for many Player and Upgrade SBCs. Duplicates can count, and progress can be submitted over more than one visit.
Evolution Pathways Allows selected Evolutions to branch into different upgrade routes. You can choose the route that fits the player’s job instead of taking one fixed upgrade.
Evolution Chain Preview Shows potential follow-up Evolutions before you commit to the current Evo. It reduces the risk of starting a long-term Evo project with the wrong player.
Single Player Live Events Adds themed FUT challenges against AI opponents. Players who avoid online matches can take part in more live campaign content.
Holographic Items Adds rarer visual versions of eligible special Player Items. They improve Gallery score but do not have stronger in-match Attributes than the standard version.
Base Item Rarity Removes the Common and Rare split from Bronze, Silver, and Gold base Items. Pack descriptions will no longer guarantee a minimum number of Rare Items in the old format.
Rewards Moves part of selected weekly and Live Event rewards into Match Coins and SP, while increasing direct FUT Coins and tradeable packs. Progress should feel less dependent on waiting for one weekly reward drop.
Special Item Roles Gives special Items Role++ familiarity across every role in their primary and secondary positions. Formation changes should be less likely to make a strong special Item awkward to use.

Where Should an Unused or Duplicate Item Go?

FUT Gallery does not mean every card should sit untouched in your club. Before moving an eligible item, check what it can do in the order that matters to your account. A starter, substitute, or useful objective card should not be sacrificed for a small collection improvement. An item that is no longer helping on the pitch can then be checked against your Evo plans, Gallery Sets, Streamlined SBC targets, and Transfer Market value.

Situation Best First Check Likely Action
The item improves your active squad Starting role, bench use, and current Objectives Keep it available for matches. Gallery score should not weaken your team.
The item fits a planned Evolution Pathway choices and Evolution Chain Preview Reserve it until you have checked the complete route and requirements.
The item improves a Gallery Set Set grade, Tags, and score gain Add it to the relevant Set before deciding whether to sell or submit it elsewhere.
The item is duplicate or unwanted fodder Its Streamlined SBC score and the remaining target Submit it when the score is useful and the SBC reward justifies the cost.
The item is tradeable and has market value Transfer value compared with its Gallery or SBC benefit Record its useful Gallery contribution first, then sell if the Coins help more elsewhere.

This is not a permanent priority list. An early-game starter may become SBC material later, and a low-rated card that looks disposable may become eligible for a useful Evolution. The point is to check the available routes before pressing Submit, Quick Sell, or List on Transfer Market.

FUT Gallery records eligible Player Items that pass through your club. Most items obtained through Packs, the Transfer Market, Objectives, SBCs, and other Ultimate Team rewards can be added. Loan Items are excluded. If a player has been upgraded through an Evolution, the Gallery represents that item through its original base version rather than the upgraded Evo.

The rule that matters most is persistence. Once an eligible item has contributed to a Gallery Set, selling it or submitting it into an SBC does not erase that contribution. You therefore do not need to keep every collected card in club storage simply to protect Gallery progress.

Gallery Sets can be based on Nations, Leagues, Clubs, Campaigns, and other themes. Completing a Set gives it a grade based on the score of the items inside it, and stronger or special versions can contribute more. You can revisit a Set later and improve its grade instead of treating completion as the end of the task.

Tags create another way to raise a Set’s score. A Tag may ask for a particular combination of item properties, such as a required number of Gold or Campaign Items. This means the highest-OVR option is not automatically the best addition. Check whether a lower-rated item completes a useful Tag before replacing it.

Custom Sets serve a different purpose. They let you display favourite players or build a collection around a theme that matters to your club. These are better suited to personalisation than pure score optimisation, so players who enjoy collecting can keep a meaningful display without forcing those choices into the competitive squad.

Improving Sets raises your overall Gallery Level and can unlock rewards. EA has announced cosmetics, Gallery Tokens, and other reward types, with Gallery Tokens used in a dedicated store for items such as Kits, Badges, and Hall of FUT rewards. The exact value of Gallery progression will depend on the milestone and store rewards available during each part of the season, so do not spend valuable squad or SBC resources before checking what the next level actually gives.

The Gallery Hub is also FC 27’s main Ultimate Team environment on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Favourite Sets and 3D Player Items can appear around the space as your collection grows. This presentation feature does not affect a player’s performance, but it gives collectors a visible record of the club they build through the year.

Are Holographic Items Worth More?

Holographic Items are rarer visual versions of eligible special Items. Regular Holographic Items use an animated foil effect, while Pristine Holographic Items add a more premium presentation that includes a stylised player name. Each eligible Player Item can have only one Holographic type: Regular or Pristine.

The standard and Holographic versions have the same in-match Attributes. A Holographic card can contribute more score to a Gallery Set, but it will not pass, defend, or finish better because of the visual treatment. If a Holographic version costs more on the Transfer Market, the premium only makes sense when you value its rarity, appearance, or Gallery contribution. Players focused purely on match performance should compare the standard version first.

Streamlined SBCs and Duplicate Management

EA SPORTS FC 27 Streamlined SBC screen showing eligible Player Items and progress toward a target score
Many Player and Upgrade SBCs in FC 27 will use the Streamlined format. Instead of assembling a complete squad around Chemistry, positions, and a squad-rating requirement, you select eligible items from your club until their combined score reaches the target.

An item’s contribution is based on its overall rating and rarity. A challenge may require every submitted item to meet a minimum OVR, or it may only specify a total score. Depending on the target, you might use many lower-rated items, fewer high-rated items, or a mixture of both. EA has not published one universal scoring table for every SBC, so the correct choice will depend on the score shown by the live challenge.

Duplicates become easier to handle because multiple copies of the same item can count. Streamlined SBCs also save partial progress: you can submit some items, leave, and return when you have enough fodder to finish. This removes the pressure to complete the entire requirement just because an untradeable duplicate is blocking the next Pack opening.

When Should You Hold a Duplicate?

Do not submit a duplicate automatically just because the game now makes it easier. First check whether the SBC reward is worth the score you are giving up, whether the item can improve a Gallery Set or Tag, and whether an Evolution needs that base player. If none of those uses matters, the Streamlined SBC is the natural destination. Traditional SBCs will still exist for puzzle-style Challenges, so Chemistry and squad construction have not disappeared from Ultimate Team.

Evolution Pathways and Chain Preview

EA SPORTS FC 27 Evolution Pathways screen comparing two upgrade choices for a Player Item
Selected Evolutions in FC 27 can branch into Pathways. One route might improve dribbling and add Technical, while another could improve defensive awareness and add Jockey. Traditional linear Evolutions remain, so you should not expect every Evo to offer a branch.

The best route depends on how the player will be used. For a wide player, a dribbling route may suit a creator who receives between the lines, while a defensive route may be more useful if the same player tracks runners and protects an attacking full-back. Before choosing, compare the formation, existing PlayStyles, role familiarity, weak areas in the card, and the actions you actually ask that player to perform.

How to Use Evolution Chain Preview

Evolution Chain Preview shows potential later Evos after the current upgrade. Use it before committing a rare base player or beginning a long project, especially when several eligible cards could take the first step. A larger immediate OVR increase is not always the better route if it blocks the attributes, PlayStyles, or position profile you want later.

The preview is a planning tool rather than a promise that every future Evolution will remain available indefinitely. Availability, requirements, and deadlines still matter. Check the complete current objective and the route shown in-game before spending Coins, FC Points, or upgrade time.

PlayStyles Lab in FC 27

PlayStyles Lab returns as a recurring program beginning in Season 1. Eligible Items will come with a selection of pre-applied PlayStyles, allowing you to fine-tune part of the item instead of building its PlayStyles from nothing. Requirements can vary between choices, so compare the work required with how often the PlayStyle will influence that player’s role.

Single Player Live Events and Campaign Hub

The Campaign Hub brings active Objectives, SBCs, Evolutions, Gallery Sets, and Live Events together. Before starting a session, use it to check which activity moves you toward a reward you actually want. That prevents spending several matches in a mode that does not advance the current campaign objective.

Single Player Live Events give offline FUT players themed matches against AI opponents. Events can use custom squads, special rules, squad requirements, selectable difficulties, fixed difficulty steps, and connected stages. A tournament-style event might begin at a manageable level and become harder in later rounds, giving players something more structured than repeating ordinary AI matches.

This does not mean every live reward will be available offline. The specific Objectives and rewards attached to each event will decide what can be earned without online matches. Check the live event details before building a squad around its requirements.

Item Rarity, Progression, Roles, and Rewards

EA SPORTS FC 27 Ultimate Team graphic explaining player item upgrades and season-long squad progression
Bronze, Silver, and Gold base Items will no longer be split into Common and Rare versions. Packs will therefore stop describing a guaranteed minimum number of Rare Items in the old format. EA says the chance of receiving base Player Items at OVR 82 and below from Packs that previously guaranteed Rare Player Items is intended to remain consistent with FC 26, but players should still check the in-game Pack Probability screen for the exact odds of each FUT Store Pack.

EA is also aiming for a smaller gap between base Items and late-season Campaign Items. Launch Items are intended to begin at similar OVR and PlayStyle levels to FC 26, while later Attribute and PlayStyle upgrades are planned to be less extreme. The maximum number of PlayStyle+ on one Item drops from five to three, and Campaign Squads are planned to appear in approximately five fewer weeks across the year.

These are progression targets, not proof that every early card will stay competitive. Whether the slower curve works will depend on Campaign rewards, Evolution availability, SBC pricing, and how quickly strong Items reach ordinary squads. Until the live cycle develops, treat this as EA’s intended direction rather than a confirmed verdict on power creep.

Special Items released during the year will receive Role++ familiarity across every role in their primary and secondary positions. That should make a special card easier to move between compatible formations without losing role familiarity, although its Attributes and PlayStyles will still determine whether it performs the new job well.

How FC 27 Rewards Are Changing

At launch, EA expects part of the rewards previously concentrated in weekly mode rewards and Live Event Objectives to move into Match Coins and SP earned after matches in selected modes. The important limitation is “selected modes”: EA has not said that every FUT match will provide the same additional rewards.

More earned rewards are also planned to arrive as direct FUT Coins and tradeable Packs. Event Tokens will return in evergreen and time-limited programs, allowing players to work toward selected rewards across different activities. The real value of these changes cannot be judged until the live reward amounts, Token stores, and event requirements are visible.

How to Approach Your First FC 27 FUT Club

  1. Build a functional starting eleven before chasing Gallery grades. Match results and objective access matter more than collection score during the opening days.
  2. Check eligible cards against Gallery Sets before selling or submitting them. Once their useful Set contribution is recorded, decide whether the item has a better second use.
  3. Keep potential Evolution players separate from ordinary fodder until you have checked Pathways, Chain Preview, PlayStyles, and deadlines.
  4. Use partial Streamlined SBC submissions for unwanted duplicates, but do not sink high-value items into an unfinished target without checking the reward.
  5. Compare Holographic and standard versions by in-match Attributes first. Pay a premium only if the presentation, rarity, or extra Gallery score matters to you.
  6. Open the Campaign Hub before playing so that your matches advance a current Objective, Event, or reward path.
  7. Check Pack Probability in-game. The removal of Common and Rare labels does not make a Pack description enough to judge its odds.

FC 27 Ultimate Team FAQ

No. Once an eligible Player Item has been added and contributed to a Gallery Set, it can continue supporting that Set after you sell it or submit it into an SBC. Loan Items are not eligible, and Evolution Items are represented by their original base Item.

What Should I Do with a Duplicate First?

Check whether it improves a Gallery Set or Tag, fits a planned Evolution, or adds useful score to a Streamlined SBC. If the item is tradeable, compare its Transfer Market value with those benefits. There is no single correct destination for every duplicate.

Can I Submit Items Without Finishing a Streamlined SBC?

Yes. Streamlined SBCs support partial progress, so you can submit eligible items, leave before reaching the target score, and return later. Multiple copies of the same item can also contribute.

Are Holographic Items Stronger in Matches?

No. Holographic and standard versions of the same eligible special Item have identical in-match Attributes. Holographic Items differ in appearance, rarity, and the score they contribute to Gallery Sets.

Does Every Evolution Have Pathways?

No. Only selected Evolutions will branch into Pathways. Traditional linear Evolutions will remain, and Evolution Chain Preview should be checked before committing when a future route is available.

Can I Play FUT Live Content Without Online Matches?

Yes, through Single Player Live Events against AI opponents. However, the available rewards and progression will depend on the requirements of each live event, so not every FUT reward should be assumed to have an offline route.

Are End of Match Rewards Available in Every FUT Mode?

EA has only said that Match Coins and SP will form part of the reward changes in selected modes at launch. The exact modes and reward amounts should be checked in the final Launch Update and in-game once FC 27 is live.
