Kingshot Sophia Build Guide: Defensive Skills, Terror and Petra Presets

Sophia is a useful Gen 6 defensive Cavalry project, but recruiting her does not require retiring Petra from Bear Trap. Her Terror effects depend on the affected target, while Scarlet Rose's troop bonus applies to defenders. Build around the activity you need her for. The practical choice is often adding a defensive preset rather than replacing every older Cavalry preset.

Sophia and Petra Can Keep Different Jobs

Gen 6 community discussions repeatedly separate obtaining Sophia through Roulette from replacing Petra's offensive role. The easier acquisition route makes Sophia accessible to players who cannot fund every new hero with general shards. It does not make a defensive widget an offensive rally widget. Keep Petra available for the rallies where her developed offensive package still earns its place.

Plan Roulette spending against the next useful star target and the event's displayed rewards. If your remaining gems cannot reach that target, decide whether you are deliberately building across multiple rotations. Do not empty a general-shard reserve merely to finish the current wheel hero faster when the same reserve is assigned to Yang. Having both an offensive Cavalry preset and a defensive one is a more meaningful goal than chasing a single universal top-three lineup.

Terror Is a Conditional Damage Package

Expedition skill Maximum listed effect Condition that matters
Arcane Pact 40% chance to reduce squad damage taken by 50% A per-turn chance, not constant 50% protection.
Terror – Deathblow Affected enemies take 200% increased Cavalry damage on the following turn Requires the Terror application; the status lasts one turn.
Terror – Annihilation All squads deal 75% increased damage to terrified targets The target must be terrified.

For a defensive project, Arcane Pact is the first protection effect to evaluate. Its reduction stays at 50% while the chance improves with rank. Deathblow and Annihilation should be considered together when building offense because the second needs the status supplied by the first. Upgrading the conditional payoff does not by itself create more valid targets.

The troop mix changes the value of that payoff. Removing Cavalry discards the troop-specific part of Deathblow even though Annihilation benefits all squads. That does not mean an all-Cavalry march is the answer: it could weaken the rest of the formation or expose it to the opponent's troop mix. Start with the battle's defensive requirements, then assess how much of Sophia's kit the formation actually uses.

Conquest: Confusion and Marks Solve Different Problems

Puppet Master deals area damage and confuses affected enemies for one second. Scalding Mark applies a four-second vulnerability window, and Lash increases Sophia's Attack and her damage against marked targets. The mark is useful when attacks land on that affected enemy during the window. It is not a permanent increase to damage against every enemy.

For a lineup needing more concentrated damage, develop the Mark-and-Lash interaction. If you mainly want Puppet Master's control, remember that its listed one-second confusion does not lengthen with the damage upgrades. Confusion makes affected enemies attack surrounding targets, including allies and enemies; it is not the same as choosing which opponent they hit. Judge the effect by the opening it creates for your team rather than assuming every confused attack becomes friendly fire.

Scarlet Rose: Useful Chances, Not a Guaranteed Control Loop

Eyes of Obedience gives Sophia's attacks an additional 2% to 8% chance of one-second confusion across its progression. Queen of Night grants defending squads 5% to 15% Lethality. The first supports Conquest disruption; the second increases the threat of a defending formation. Neither promises uninterrupted control or an offensive rally-lead bonus.

For a garrison lead, compare the next Queen of Night improvement with the rest of the defense's widget needs. For Arena, an 8% maximum chance is still a chance: do not plan a strategy that requires every hit to confuse. If Sophia dies before using her regular kit, solve that first. Paying for more occasional control cannot reliably compensate for losing the hero immediately.

Use Two Presets Before Buying Two Full Gear Sets

If Petra and Sophia are used in separate activities, first test sharing the developed Cavalry equipment. Save the intended formations and check the equipped hero before each event. This lets you evaluate the new hero without immediately funding duplicate gear. A second full set becomes a separate decision when you actually need both heroes in simultaneous lineups.

For Arena, examine whether Sophia's marks receive follow-up damage and whether she survives the opponent's opening. A lineup that disperses its damage across unrelated targets may get less from a brief vulnerability effect than one that follows up on the marked enemy. Keep the rest of the formation fixed when testing a change. Once the targeting problem is clear, improve the piece or hero responsible rather than raising every slot evenly.

When to Stop Investing

Stop before using general shards if Sophia has reached the defensive role you planned and your next offensive hero remains unfunded. Stop widget spending when the next bonus belongs to a role you do not lead. Continue when she is an active part of your defense or Arena lineup and the next rank addresses a repeatable weakness. These stopping points depend on assigned jobs, not on whether an older hero remains in another preset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Must Sophia replace Petra?

No. Keep a developed Petra for the offensive role she still performs and evaluate Sophia for defense or Conquest.

Does Arcane Pact provide constant 50% protection?

No. At the highest listed rank, it has a 40% chance to apply that reduction each turn.

Does Puppet Master's confusion become longer?

The listed duration remains one second while its damage increases.

Does Queen of Night improve attacking rallies?

Its stated recipient is the defending squad. Evaluate Sophia's ordinary skills separately when considering an attacking formation.
