When Does the ZZZ 3.0 Update Release?
First things first: There is no Version 2.9. The game is skipping straight from the 2.8 patch directly into the massive 3.0 update. Based on the standard six-week patch cycle for Zenless Zone Zero, the Version 3.0 update is expected to drop shortly after the conclusion of the 2.8 banners.
- Exact Release Date & Time: Currently unknown (To be updated pending official livestream).
- Pre-installation: Usually available 48 hours before the server maintenance begins.
Who Are the New Characters in the 3.0 Banners?

Version 3.0 introduces three massive additions to the roster, heavily featuring the New Eridu Public Security faction and a brand-new combat system:
- Velina: S-Rank | Wind | Anomaly. A whirlwind of elemental damage who shreds resistances and creates elemental fields.
- Norma: S-Rank | Fire | Stun. A heavy-hitting, turret-deploying stunner who extends burst windows and generates resources while completely off-field.
- Pyrois: S-Rank | Ether | Attack. A revolutionary "Combat Avatar" that allows the Proxy to fight directly shoulder-to-shoulder with it on the field.
(Note: The exact Phase 1 and Phase 2 banner order is currently unknown and subject to official confirmation. For this guide, we will analyze their kits independently).
What to Expect from Velina's Banner?

Velina is an incredibly complex Wind Anomaly unit designed to enable massive Disorder comps and off-field application.
How Her Skills Work:
- Gale Field & Dye Mechanic: She generates [Wind Energy] to summon a tornado. If this field hits an enemy afflicted by another element, it triggers a [Dye] effect, absorbing that element and dealing corresponding damage.
- Resistance Shred: Any enemy hit by the tornado loses 8% Anomaly Buildup RES (scaling up to 16% with the right team).
- The "Abloom" Nuke: If her field hits an enemy already suffering from Wind Anomaly, she triggers an extra burst of Anomaly DMG.
- Combat Rotation: You want to build her energy, drop the tornado, and immediately swap to another Anomaly carry to trigger the Dye effect and force fast Disorder procs.
This Agent is essentially the ultimate enabler. She isn't a selfish hyper-carry; instead, the wind specialist sets up the board so your other characters can melt squishy targets.

What to Expect from Norma's Banner?

If you are tired of your Stun characters hogging field time, Norma is about to change your account forever. She is an S-Rank Fire Stunner who operates like an off-field tactical commander.
How Her Skills Work:
- Off-Field Resource Farming: Using her Basic Attack, she can throw her [Hat] on the field. The hat stays behind and passively generates [Personal Resources] while she is safely off-field.
- Turret Deployment: Her EX Special deploys auto-turrets. If the enemy isn't stunned, they fire Armor-Piercing rounds (massive Daze). If the boss is already staggered, they swap to High-Explosive rounds (massive Fire DMG).
- CRIT-to-Daze Conversion: This is her craziest mechanic. Her Core Passive converts her CRIT Rate into CRIT DMG and bonus Daze multiplier (up to 54% extra Daze). You want to build Crit on this stunner.
- Stun Extension: Having an Attack or Rupture teammate allows her to apply a [Weakened] debuff. This boosts your Stun DMG Multiplier and physically extends the boss's Stun duration by 3 full seconds, giving your main DPS an enormous burst window.
(A-Rank Agents on this banner: To be updated).
Are the 3.0 Signature W-Engines Worth Pulling?
We now have the data for the 3.0 signature weapons, and they are incredibly strong for their specific users.
- Head Lackey (Norma's Signature): This is a must-pull if you want to maximize her kit. It gives a massive 24% CRIT Rate substat. The passive gives 15% Impact, ignores 10% Fire RES, and boosts your entire squad's DMG by up to 24%.
- Velina's Signature (Name TBD): This engine solves all of her energy problems instantly by giving 60% Energy Regen as a substat. The passive is a pure stat stick, giving a flat 105 Anomaly Proficiency and boosting her specific wind skill damage by up to 20%.
Which Constellations (Cinemas) Are Worth Getting?
If you are saving up to heavily invest in one of these Agents, here are the most impactful Mindscape Cinemas to aim for.
Velina's Mindscape Cinemas
| Level | Effect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| M1 | Immediately grants 30 Energy upon entering. Ignores 15% All-Attribute RES. | High Value. Solves energy issues. Great stopping point. |
| M6 | Massive boost to Abloom DMG (fixed 60% multiplier) and buffs Anomaly buildup by 20%. | Whale Territory. Turns her into a devastating main DPS. |
Norma's Mindscape Cinemas
| Level | Effect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| M1 | Turret duration extended to 12s. Turret shots reduce enemy All-Attribute RES by 15%. | Incredible Value. Best stopping point. |
| M6 | Ultimate summons continuous orbital missile bombardments for 12s. | Whale Territory. Massive sustained Fire DPS. |
Should You Pull or Save in ZZZ Version 3.0?
- Pull Velina if: You main Anomaly or Disorder comps. She is the ultimate enabler. If you want a support who shreds resistance off-field and sets up the board, get her.
- Pull Norma if: You play a hyper-carry and hate losing field time to your Stunner. Norma farms Daze in the background and extends the boss's stun state by 3 full seconds.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does the Abloom mechanic actually work?
Think of Abloom as a bonus detonation. Normally, when you apply Wind Anomaly to an enemy, they suffer damage over time. If this character's Gale Field hits an enemy that is already suffering from that Wind Anomaly, her Core Passive triggers an instant, massive secondary burst of Anomaly DMG based on a 230% to 365% multiplier.
Do I need to build CRIT Rate?
Absolutely. Unlike traditional Stunners who only care about Impact, this Fire unit's Core Passive includes a Precision Guidance mechanic. Every 1% of CRIT Rate she has increases her CRIT DMG by 0.9% and her Daze application by 0.6%. To maximize her ability to stagger bosses quickly, you must treat her Drive Discs like a traditional DPS build.
How can she trigger Chain Attacks without stunning the boss?
Normally, Chain Attacks only happen when a boss's Daze bar fills up. However, this agent cheats the system. When she hits 80% [Personal Resources] (which she farms passively by leaving her Hat on the field), her next Quick Assist consumes those resources to force a Chain Attack immediately, bypassing the stagger requirement entirely.
